Will the stock trans shift lever work using a rod connection between the column and the trans shift lever? I see there is a replacement shift lever available which allows for adjustment to the length of this lever but is it necessay? The trans is from a 93 tbird and the trans lever is point down while the TV lever is up so the movemnet is correct but just concerned about the travel distance, Thanks
I used the Lokar kit to connect my Ididit column to my Ford tranny. (and their kickdown cable kit).
the tranny connection has a bracket with an adjustable position connector (slot) to help with the distance issues.
the mustangs had cable shift linkage connections as the AOD seemed sensitive to the arm position. (I converted a 4cyl stang over to 8cyl with an AOD).. and it caused the console shift lever to wiggle all the time when hard rod attached. The column mounted shift on the lincoln didn't seem to show this even tho it was hard rod connected.
I appears the cable linkage is no longer available or I would go that route. Sam did you have to change the distance or length of the shift arm to make this work or would the orginal shift arm be ok? Thanks
Another quick follow up, If the trans arm must be changed is it a simple task of removing the trans pans and just a matter of removing a nut inside the trans to free the shift lever shaft? I am concern about doing anything inside the transmission since I know nothing about this. Again thanks for your help
