Most people just disable the IDM with a switch or remote so the truck still cranks but won't ever start. Bad guy just assumes truck won't start since it cranks over well and moves on.
I use a Revelco for when it sits in my driveway for months at a time.
I also have a switch wired whereby I can leave it running, when the brake is depressed the engine shuts down and the Horn sounds. When I was doing roadside service, I never, if ever, turned it off the entire day, literally.
I have the Cyclops "system". Unless the potential thief KNOWS that you have it, which is not obvious, the truck will NOT start unnless they have the proper relay to replace it with.
By the time that they can figure it out they could have taken another vehicle several times over.
Yeah, I've got a Cyclops on mine, Drives my Wife Nuts.....

Yes it can. I have not been able to drive lately but when I do go to move may truck I forget about it sometimes and wonder why it is taking so long to start!
3rd owner on my truck and the first owner was some sort of rich guy, he got himself an E99 and gussied it all up with extras including a CompuStar remote starter/alarm/security system. The siren does not work and I'm not looking to find out why not, it seems that they have a way of sounding of at bad times...but...this system is awesome IMO. It's old and still does it's thing. When I use the remote starter it locks the doors then starts. Then the fob must be used to unlock the doors or it shuts down and won't start. Get in, get behind the wheel and the key must be inserted in the ignition and turned or the engine shuts down when I touch anything and won't start back up without working the fob. I have no idea what the systems cost but the company is still in business and when I call them for support I quickly get a human on the phone who can walk me through things, even though I have a 17 year old unit.

Can you share the diagram? When I am on the road I do not like to shut down either, presently I put the Club on and lock the doors if I am going into the restroom or something. Especially in hot weather.

all sounds great. Whats wrong with just adding a toggle switch to #22 fuse that contols the computer?
That would work. Interrupting any required circuit will work as well. In my experience, interrupting a field circuit is much "safer" than interrupting the PCM. They [PCM's] don't take kindly to spikes anomalies, very fragile.
