Hello all. I am going to be installing a wicked wheel and adjustable wastegate control on a 2001 Excursion 7.3 diesel. Need to know if there are any torque specs on the turbo housing bolts on both compressor and exhaust sides. Also need to know if there are torque specs for turbo mounting bolts. Any help would be appreciated. Thank You
The turbo mounting bolts are specd at 18 ft-lbs, but some go a little tighter on those 2. Make sure you have new o-rings for between the turbo and pedestal. The housing bolts you just need to tighten back up. No need to take the hot side apart. You can grip the shaft with vice grips without removing the housing on that side.
Cool. Thanks for the tip. I have the o-rings and everything needed. Just unsure on how tight to make everything. Instructions say up to 9 hours to do this. I hope not.
If you've never pulled the turbo, the hardest part is getting that back clamp loose. A screwdriver and a couple of well placed taps or pry's will break it loose.
Thank You for the confidence. I did install a banks brake on same vehicle, and had pretty good luck with everything. I am planning on spraying everything needing loosened or removed with some penetrating oil, and keeping patient with it.
