Well, I got confirmation today that my HPOP is leaking, according to the International mechanic, from the "non-serviceable" side. They want $1300 to fix it. Needless to say I'm going to get my truck in a few minutes...hahaha. Is there any members of FTE local enough that want to get their hands oily and help a newbie figure this thing out? SpringerPop posted enough information that I think I have a handle on the fix.
About this "non-serviceable" side of the HPOP, does anybody know what the heck this guy is talking about? I have read everything I can online about the HPOP and have no reference to a "non-serviceable" side.
Why would the International guy try to push a replacement HPOP then, oh, I get it...loot right...hahaha. I'm in Huntsville, Alabama, live in a campground...thanks Obama economics...hehehe. Do you happen to know the part name or number of the International kit to repair the non-serviceable plug? I would be interested in getting it from anybody except this International guy that's trying to upsale me...haha.

Give me a call and I will help you out. I have the kit in stock from Guzzle.
I just went through this on my Dad's 7.3. Mechanic wanted over a grand to replace the HPOP...we fixed it while on the truck with Guzzle's o-ring kit...total cost $20 including shipping.
First, locate the leak. You will need some degreaser, a flashlight, and an inspection mirror. Degrease the top end of the motor and let dry. Then start motor and carefully (don't stick you knee into the fan) inspect the pump (behind the fuel filter) with the inspection mirror to see where it is leaking from. There are 2 bolts back there......one on the driver's side of the pump (this is the "non-servicable" plug, and one in the middle (this is the rear plug).
If the rear plug is leaking, you can repair it on the truck......remove the oil from the HPOP with a turkey baster, hand pump, etc.... Then remove the rear plug, clean the plug and the threads inside the pump w/ a rag and some naptha. put new o-ring over plug and apply locktite (Guzzles kit has the o-rings and the locktite)....tighten to 25 ft lbs (if I remember correctly). LET SIT OVERNIGHT BEFORE YOU FILL HPOP W/ OIL OR START TRUCK.....this lets the locktite set up and ensures it will be a longer time before you have to do this again.
If the "non servicable" plug is leaking...YOU MUST REMOVE THE HPOP TO REPAIR.
You may need to have someone apply some RPMs to the motor to find the leak.
If you search this site for HPOP..you will get a ton of info...and look at Guzzles site....the pix really help.

non-serviceable plug...haha...funny how you took it to an International repair facility and the facility either chose not to tell you about this alternative or was planning on doing it for less than 100 bucks and charging you the 1300 bucks anyways...
