Too friggin' bad, because what you're doing is completely stupid and it is justified. Does your dad know about the problems on the truck? If so, he's as bad as you are. Like the old saying, "The apple doesn't fall far from the tree".
The logical thing to do is if you have no money to fix up an old truck, you either:
Park it until you have disposable income;
or
Sell the thing to someone who will either fix it correctly or part it out.
There's no way in hell that I'm gonna sell the truck... it's got sentimental value that you probably wouldn't understand. And why the hell are you ripping on my dad? That hits hard, you know. Somebody have problems with their parents? My dad's a brilliant man who knows that I'm trying and wants to see if I can get things right on my own and who wouldn't let me do something that'll kill me! He had no idea what was wrong with the truck until the last ride I took with it, so he has NOTHING to do what with what's going on here...
Yeah, I know I'm a stupid teenager. GIVE IT A REST ALREADY!!!
I am actually not one to beg the 'rents for money, but rear wheel cylinders are about 9 bucks each, a reman M/C is about $20 with a new one (the recommended one about $60)
So mow a couple lawns for $20, ask the parents for about $50 and you're set for complete working brakes front and rear.

Thank you. I'll check them out in a few weeks, when I get work again (where I work, it's been really slow). I suppose I'll have to get a new master cylinder, too, even though the brake pedal hooked up really easily to the booster I got. I don't know, maybe I'll stop working on it for a little while...

I don't care what the truck means to you. If it doesn't have brakes, don't drive it. Simple. And don't make up any more crap.
Read the post again, and carefully. If he knew firsthand, would he let you drive it as it is? Probably not. Get the meaning?

I know it's the wrong forum, because I did this on an '85 F-250. But I just put new wheel cylinders and self adjusters on both rear brakes and three new lines. One from each cylinder to the tee on the axle, then one from the tee to mid frame. Total for the whole shebang was around 60 to 70 bucks. I think a lot of the folks in this thread have been a little harder on you and ruder than they need to be. But it really would be a better deal for everyone if you not drive a truck with no rear brakes on any public roads.

You basically nailed it there. Don't drive it on public roads or just stay the hell out of Nebraska and I'm fine.
Hmmmm... well add another $10 for brake line and fittings depending if the line was pinched before mid-frame or after.
Josh
I'm pretty stocked up on brake line right now... it's just everything else that's needed. thanks for the input guys, and the truck isn't going to be run on the roads for a while (it's also got a bad heater core, and I'm not a huge fan of huffing antifreeze, soooo).
