on my 77, the brakes only grab if u hammer the pedal. when u try and go nice on the pedal, itll just creep till it reaches the floor. there r no rear brakes (i pinched the rear line shut after the i realized they were leaking out the back) and a plug was put into the front hole on the reservoir. the brake booster was replaced w/one off a 78 f150 4x4, but my brakes still creep, and it's a pretty scary truck to drive when it starts doing that. anybody got any ideas on what it makes it creep?
o, and when the pedal creeps, the brakes dont grab at all.
You do realize that when you swap boosters from one 1973/79 F100/350 to another, the brake pedal must match whatever year/series the booster came from.
1973/79 F100/350: There were TWENTY TWO different brake pedals!
Why are you driving a vehicle without rear brakes? This is very poor judgement on your part. If this is your only form of transportation, then call a buddy to take you to the parts store.

michigan state law says that all i need r 2 working brakes on the vehicle, and since the rears leaked, i smashed the line shut going to them. i dont make long trips w/the truck, just around the town i live, which is basically the middle of nowhere.
Where is that law stated for needing only two brakes? There is a Farmer clause in regards to trailers with a GVW over a certain amount needing two working brakes.

i was reading a list of laws a few months back when i was getting brakes for the truck... i took it for a few rides around town and noticed it was acting up. i havent driven it on the road for over a month. i know its stupid, but i'm cheap, and the truck isnt being run right now.
What have you been sniffing, doing hacks like that? Fix the brakes the right way. Otherwise don't drive it off your property. Don't put others' at risk for your stupidity.
P.S. Use proper grammar. You're not texting your B.F.F. on this forum.

If I had some money to throw at the problem, I probably wouldn't be on this forum asking questions about what would be wrong with the truck's brakes! For now, hacks are the best I can do! If budget wasn't a problem, then EVERYTHING would've been fixed on this truck by now and it would be making trips out of town. Now, like my original question... what COULD be the problem as to the pedal creeping?

That has been answered by 3 or 4 different people in this thread.

If you can't afford a $30 master cylinder, then old pickup trucks are not for you. I sure hope you're tight on cash because you spent it all on insurance.

You are gaining a reputation on this forum for posting garbage like this. This is one of several threads I recall started by you specifically asking advice about band-aid fixes or bad ideas that put yourself and others at risk. Grow up, and stop wasting people's time.
Well if the brakes are leaking I would fix the leak putting a plug in the master cylinder may cause a pressure issue, Pressure issues are normally over come by the porportioning valve, If the MC is plugged and the brake lines are pinched off you need to correct this first. When you put the master cylinder in did you bleed it? maybe the system has air in it and you need to bleed it really good but prior to bleeding it make sure you reconect the rear brakes and check for leakes. If you pump the brakes does it get harder? Oh as mentioned if you can't afford an older truck sell it to some one who can afford it.
