Well if the brakes are leaking I would fix the leak putting a plug in the master cylinder may cause a pressure issue, Pressure issues are normally over come by the porportioning valve, If the MC is plugged and the brake lines are pinched off you need to correct this first. When you put the master cylinder in did you bleed it? maybe the system has air in it and you need to bleed it really good but prior to bleeding it make sure you reconect the rear brakes and check for leakes. If you pump the brakes does it get harder? Oh as mentioned if you can't afford an older truck sell it to some one who can afford it.
The brakes have been bled more than once. I'll be able to afford to start putting parts into this truck in a few weeks... right now, the county that I live in has an unemployment rate comparable to the great depression, so I'm trying to save every buck that I can. I've been doing odd jobs around town, and believe me, it doesn't pay much.
well it could have a bit of air inb it if you changed the MC and didn't bench bleed it. As I ask if you pump the brakes does it get hard?
they don't really get hard, but when i push the pedal in quicker, the brakes grab. if i go slow on the pedal, it just creeps to the floor. it's either a solid pedal or no pedal.
Hey, this thread isn't about friends or stupidity! It's about the brakes! I WILL have back brakes on this truck once I get the money to do so!
besides, what little driving I do do with this truck is going 1.7 miles to my dad's friend's house to borrow tools, and it's not like I'm going 70mph there! it's like 30 tops
sorry about my rudeness, but this whole ordeal is started to get on my nerves...
God! I'd love to be the Lawyer for the victum is the wreck that's gonna happen? I'd own everything this guys got and everthing he will ever have!! Stupid Stupid Stupid!!!!!

Well gents this forum is to help each other and share the passion for great old trucks. Telling some one there stupid isn't the point of this place. The kids asking how to fix a problem on the cheap these types of questions have been ask before.
Well if its soft and only hard when you slam on it quick like I would guess air in the line but could be some thing else I'm missing. As said get the back brakes reconected and check for leakes then go from that point and do some process of elimination.

Too friggin' bad, because what you're doing is completely stupid and it is justified. Does your dad know about the problems on the truck? If so, he's as bad as you are. Like the old saying, "The apple doesn't fall far from the tree".
The logical thing to do is if you have no money to fix up an old truck, you either:
Park it until you have disposable income;
or
Sell the thing to someone who will either fix it correctly or part it out.

I don't think anyone would help this moron become another Darwin candidate if we can help it.

The OP is still clueless to the problems, even tho those that know these trucks better than anyone else in this forum have reponded with helpful tips.
Part of the problem is....you cannot swap boosters from one 1973/79 F100/350 to another, unless the brake pedal is also swapped.
Is the brake pedal the same from the 1978 the booster came from...as the OP's 1977?
How many different brake pedals are there for 1973/79 F100/350's?
