Yeah, that's how mine looks, but I obviously have a loose connection somewhere and I'm going to wait until I get a new cable from Diane @ DP Tuner before I pull it out.
IMHO, do not wait to take it out and check it with out the chip installed.
Something is awry, one other thing that will make the tuner suddenly turn off is a drop in voltage supply to the pcm. I would check the IPR sensor as well to see if it is dirty. If its dirty or going out it will make the truck do what its doing. A lot of things will make the truck suddenly turn off.

Sorry, but I'm not really qualified to "check" anything out. Don't have the knowledge or equipment to do so. All I can really to is remove and replace stuff, which is why I was going to wait for the new cable from you (and maybe a new mount from Clay @ Riffraff) to see if they make a difference. Beyond that, I'd have to take it to a shop to trouble shoot the problem.
FWIW, if I were going to try to analyze the problem, what I'd do FIRST would be to remove the DP Tuner and return the engine to stock to see if the engine dies without the DP Tuner installed. If it does, I'd then take it to a shop to see if they can determine what the problem is and whether it's associated with the IPR sensor (whatever that is -- see comment below) or something else.
On the other hand, if the engine doesn't die in stock configuration, I'd then have to assume that the problem is with the DP Tuner and would try to locate the problem with it -- which I currently believe is related to a loose wire or connection at the switcher.
BTW, what is the IPR sensor? Did a quick search and found references to it as well as to an IPR valve and ICP sensor, but no explanation of what the acronyms stand for and what these things do.
I think you need to get you hand in behind the dash and make sure the cable is not pulled tight. Make sure it is snapped in place,(kinda like a telephone jack). Eliminate the simple stuff first.
Ok, I took the time to look into the problem today and it is clearly a loose connection between the cable and the back of the "switcher.
I attached some new velcro to the back of the switcher for a more secure mount and pulled some of the cable out to put more slack in it. This should solve the problem. If not, I need to figure a way to tighten the connection (maybe some tape betwewn the connector bodies) or may just need to get a new cable and connector for a tighter fit.
Hope that got you fixed up. If the problem presist, you may need to do as Clay suggested and find a more permanent mount.
Update:
After about a week, it looks like the "problem" has been "fixed up." No loss of power or even hesitation, as before, since I remounted the switcher w/new velcro and added some slack to the cable behind it.
I was thinking that you may have pulled a cable under the dash as I did a few weeks ago. I ended up pulling the plug loose on the switch. Did the same exact thing luckily I'm always parking when these things happen to me.
