i had a long and short glasspack on my truck, along with a flowmaster, magnaflow, thrush turbo and no muffler along with the newest Moroso. the glasspacks were very ricey on the higher end. i dont know if it was the EFI manifolds the highflow cat but it sounded lousy.
the one time my exhaust fell off my truck i thought it sounded good, lol, that was just no muffler and had the cats on. Sounded like a gnarly tractor.
The biggest problem with headers sealing, is typically the gaskets that come with the headers are junk, and if the bolts arent torqued down perfectly, they like to back themselves out.
BTW, i like crown victorias
Your exhaust just magically fell off, huh? hahaha!
Anyway that was my point. I wasn't saying to stay away from headers. I was merely saying he can't go wrong with EFI manifolds, and to be aware some headers have issues sealing.
When I had both cats and no muffler, it sounded like a tractor. I loved it, actually, and if I ever have to put cats back on my truck again I'll just run it with no muffler.

With both cats, I ran a 2.25'' Y pipe into full tailpipes and louvered glass packs fr tips. It didn't sound ricey. I don't know why yours did. Placement of the glass packs, perhaps? A few members on this site run glass packs on their 300's and they sound good. When I had both cats and a Flowmaster super 40, my truck sounded just like a little Honda.
Like I said, it all depends. The 300 is picky about exhaust sound.
And here is the 2.25'' Y pipe with cats I was telling you about. It sounded more mellow on my truck for some reason. His sounds more like a tractor. YouTube - My 89 straight six Ford F150
Your exhaust just magically fell off, huh? hahaha! .
yes, it was magical, lol. it was rusted in front of the muffler, and some sideways offroad action caused it to break off. I was having so much fun i didnt even notice it happened till i got back on road and heard the tailipe scraping the ground, lol, it sounded good though.
If its open, then why does the drivers side wheel spin in gravel, occasionally on the tarmac?
Just curious....
-Wes
Mine would too. Both wheels would spin in gravel, dirt, and mud. I got stuck in the mud one time and both sides of my truck had mud on it, but the right side was covered in more mud than the other. They both spin but the driver's side typically gets the most power.
Ahh....Another of FORDs' mysterious wonders of the automotive world....
Thats almost like the little beeping sound scares the crap out of me every so often, only happen though if I am playing around do donuts/slides, the truck shuts off, you start it and drive off only for the beeping start for about 10 minutes and quit as mysteriuosly as it started......*Scratches head, takes a drink of beer, and walks off*
