Slipyoke question

Slipyoke question
So I got a rain day from work today, and finally got off my lazy butt and greased the slip yoke on the rear DS - something I've been meaning to do for awhile. My question is why couldn't FoMoCo put a stinkin' grease fitting in the yoke to make it easy to grease it? I mean really, how hard would it have been? 
Anyways, it needed it as it was pretty dry. I'm hoping that cures the slight "clunk" when I let off the brake and start to accelarate.
