You can still get that, but I want something on the frame first that is a corrosion preventative, undercoating wouldn't be much better than paint since it doesn't neutralize existing rust.

Also thinking about getting the frame ends LineX'd when all is said and done.
We just use a good 3M undercoating, seems to hold up good. Did you check to see if your frame was buckled around the engine cross-member area? Judgeing by the pics its gotta be bent.

The bulk of the force was sideways and up, my angled pre-runner bumper pulled the rails up because it got pushed up against the grill. It looks to me like it just needs a side pull and then get the up and down correct. I think I'll shoot the frame ends with some real good primer, maybe use a rust converter first, then do either Herculiner or just undercoating.

I would recommend a rust converter, primer (self etching), and then the undercoating vice the Herculiner. The Herculiner is real thin so it'll scratch off fairly easy. LineX would be the best bet to protect it permanently.

I was thinking LineX at first, probably will go with that.

Just remember the Line X is a Pita to get off in the future. I always blasted the frame rust and used epoxy primer before I painted. John Deere has soft black that looks original for the frame.

A-rod should be shaking his head about now.

Sorry to hear that

Sorry to hear that, it's a great looking ride. The bumper actually held up pretty well all things considered. My Yukon went through the same thing a few weeks ago. (someone ran a light) It was about 3ft shorter after the collision, and is why I am now the proud owner of my first SD. :-)

Looks like the bumper was money well spent.

Still, sorry to hear about your luck. Good luck getting everything sorted out and put back together. Keep us posted.

sorry, just read this. you have the right to tell them where you want to have the truck fixed, so use the highest estimate you can get as a bargaining tool. rebuilts usually value between 75-80% of book, that is what banks and courthouses go by. if you pull it try hooking a fabbed plate or tube attached between the frame rails at the bumper mounts so it all pulls back together.also i know ford sells new bumper mounts that just slip over what is left after you cut off the bent ones for f150s, don't know about sd.good luck!
