Raced a 8.1L Vortec

Well the time finially came,me and my best bud with a 2001 2500hd gasser 315/75/16 tires stock except for dual exaust vs my 2001 f350 6637, 4 inch straight pipe, edge juice with attitude, (i hate it) 35/12.50/16 super swampers drag raced.(back country road). and the time also came that one person couldnt talk s&!t any more about whos truck is better, or about how gas sucks or diesel sucks or ford sucks or chevy sucks and so on.

and that person was me

How did i loose!! WTF! il tell you its the edge! i hate it. or either somethings wrong with the trans. i would pull away but then it would reev out and wouldnt shift for 2 or 3 seconds. then it would pull again but shifting into 3rd was the worst it would take for ever to shift and by then my front bumper was at his rear

what yal think? is it the edge or the trans doing this? does it do this with the dp? because im saving up for one now. also what do yal think about the transgo tugger kits. im thinking about getting one of those because i do some towing to and i want to be safe on my trans with the 35's

sorry for such a long post but i had to mourn the loss with yal....

You need custom tuning and a mod'ed trans. Do that, you'll notice a huge improvement. Get rid of the Edge junk, and go with one of the custom tuners. My favorite is in my sig, along with the Tugger. Well worth the $$$.

He has a couple of advantages on ya, 340 HP vs. 250 for yours, 496ci vs. 444ci, his torque is almost comperable, and the gasser has it as far as being able to rev quicker, I wouldn't beat yourself up to badly, like they say in drag racing, you can't beat cubic inches.

One of the downsides to the Edge is the way it adjusts the shift points in the truck. Set the truck back to stock and drive around a little and you'll notice how the tranny shifts different.

When you notice the lack of power without the Edge, just multiply that difference by 20 and that's what Tony or Jody will give you with their tunes. To give you a better idea, my stock 6 speed could run with my wife's truck with the edge (came with it). We put Tony's chip in her truck and I won't even try now. The shifting is much better too. No delays like you're talking about. The Transgo kit firms the shifts up so they're nice and quick.

Make sure you save up for either a wicked wheel or a ported compressor housing. With a custom chip, you'll need to address turbo surge too since you'll have enough power to get the surge.

Hey Eric, we'll help you get to where you want to be, gonna cost yaa but its fun, you know this already. I haven't had the chance to whoop it up, a couple times a Dodge or Chevy came up slow on the highway then punched it next to me, I just laughed. No Ford bros yet..

If you want to ride in my truck sometime soon I dont have a problem with it. You will definitely be able to feel a difference with the DP. Im picking up another contract within 2 weeks and will most likely be up your way quite a bit working.
