okay I've got some ideas and this is just personal taste so if your gonna give me crap about lowering a truck especially a 4wd I don't wanna hear it.. right now its gotta 3 in body lift and 33's.. Im getting tired of it because there countless lifted trucks in town, my mileage sucks and the big tires suck with my gears.. I want to bring her back down to stock height, lower the tire size to some shorter wide tires, throw some spacers on and maybe put a shackle or hanger kit on the rear so what are your guy's ideas on that how will the stance be.. I have another off road towing truck and this truck wont ever see mud..
Well if it was 2wd you can use hangers and shackles to drop the rear from 1-4 in , lowering springs on the front to lower it 2 1n , not sure about a 4x4....
Yeah the 4x4 ttb is big. Hard to drop it much without getting on the bumpstops.
Hmmmmm
Are you dead set on 4x4. You can swap to 2wd beams easy.
Or get creative and retro a Chevy ifs under the truck. I've seen those slammed with 4wd and big meat.
Well I really don't want to lose my 4wd:/ but I just want a better stance.. Would I be able to go back to stock height, drop tire sizes and get some 12.50's or 13.50's and some spacers and it have a more agrees ive street look?
If you want to lower it, just simply remove the body lift and put it back to stock ride height. Then you can probably make it sit close to level by removing the factory rear blocks, if it has them.
you could cut off an inch on the front coil springs and also ftake out the stock lift block and ditch the body lift, the only thing that conserns me is the campber would have to be adjusted i belive and the tire size would have to be a tad smaller also, and i dont know if you really want to cut you coil springs
i wasnt sure if they were and just throwing out some ideas bud. but deffinatly put 29in tires on it that will drop it alot also ditching the body lift youll have a drop of 4to 6in from now and about 2-3in lower then stock i belive
so ya think I could use these and not have to change anything else? http://www.ebay.com/itm/ROX-87-96-Ford-F150-2-1-Rear-Drop-Shackles-Lowering-Kit-2wd-4x4-4wd-/261142918725?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Model%3AF-150%7CMake%3AFord&hash=item3ccd54b645&vxp=mtr
Figure out how you're going to lower the front before buying anything.
Clearly the body lift is going...
Yes shorter tires will help...
Cutting the coils will drop it...
But how about what I said about the beams hitting the bumpstops. You can only drop it until you're close to those. Even if you remove them, travel will be limited to clearance between frame/bumpstop and beam of axle.
swap front springs for the 2wd springs or cut your springs and remove a leaf or 2 in the rear. easy as that. i would think you would need an alignment if you drop it 2 inches more than stock. sell me your body lift and 4x4 setup and tires. or, just buy a spare car for gas mileage and keep your truck the way it is for when the zombies come. all that lowering and different tires might get you 3mpg. is that really worth loosing the lift over? when i raised my truck that much, thats how much i lost.
