Question Tailgate Access Panel Bolts

To those who have removed the plastic drop in liner and had bed spray installed, what type of bolts were used to replace the ones that hold the access panel in place? The stock bolts aren't fully threaded so they sit out about 1/3 - 1/4" once the plastic panel is removed.

Riggz, I had that very problem right after I bought my truck. It came with the plastic liner but I had the dealer install a spray-in liner before I drove it off the lot. Needless to say, they reused the same bolts for the access cover that held the plastic liner in place. Same situation you described. I didn't really notice it until a few days later and I didn't feel like fighting with them over it. Anyway, I got in touch with Powerstrokeshop.com and they sent me eight P/N N806149-S301 screws. They worked like a champ.

Thanks! Seems that part # has been replaced with this one: W710734S439 A little under $2 each. I will swing by the dealer this week and scoop some up.

I realize this is a very old thread, but just in case this may help someone in the future. I just replaced these screws with #14 by 3/4 inch long stainless phillips pan head screws from my local Ace Hardware for 55 cents each.

I just did this mod. I used the Ford part number W710734S439 as I just ordered them when I ordered the plate and I wanted everything in hand as soon as the truck rolled in. On the new trucks, the holes that the 8 bolts go in are threaded. Screws might work, but I'm sure you could take the ones that came out and match them up to the correct bolt size and thread if you don't want to order the Ford bolts.

I paid $1.16 for each bolt from Silver State Ford and $52.63 for the plate. The bolts are listed as M6x19, so just double check the threads. Probably could get eight M6 at Lowes for less than $5.
