Want to make that spiffy little ° symbol in your posts, like when you are talking about a 17° HPOP?
Hold down Alt key
press 2, 4, 8 on the numeric keypad
release alt

Now don't you just feel cool?
If there are any Mac users out there, I have no idea if this works on Macs. I learned this trick on a forum of a different nature I visit.

Sure can, if you know the right combination of keys to punch.

For what its worth, it does not work on a mac.
It does this:
™¢•

There are two ways to type the degree symbol on a mac. ° You can type Option (alt) + 0 or you can type Shift + Option (alt) + 8.

I can't even figure out how to make the stupid number pad on my laptop work . I got all these neat little number and symbols in blue and don't have a clue in hell how to make them work. I fix trucks with wrenches and such, computers with HAMMERS.....

However I'll be happy for someone to learn me how to use this contraption

Danny...do you see a key that says "num lock"?

If so, push it. Then try to type in numbers.

There is usually a "function" key on a laptop, should have the same blue coloring as the blue numbers on your other keys.
