Need intense computer help
They get crippled just as easily by software problems.
There are so many possible causes of computer problems, and Windows installations deteriorate over time. Be ready and backed up, then wiping them (not restoring, not troubleshooting, just reformat and reinstall) takes MUCH less time than messing with trying to save a hosed installation.
Have your restore or operating system discs ready, along with CD or DVDs of all your software and printer or other peripheral drivers. (I store them inside the case of desktop PCs so they'll always be available.) If you have more stuff to save than you can reasonably back up to DVD, you can get an external hard drive (1TB Western Digitals are about 110 bucks from Newegg.) and copy off your files, then unplug it and set it aside. Reload to your internal drive at leisure.
I have a separate old computer with three hard drives in it that I save everything personal on, pictures, videos, music, etc.
They are duplicated, so that if one crashes, I simply replace it and copy everything over from the still good one.
The computer that I use daily get "gummed up" after about a year and I always reformat, and reload.
HUGE difference in how well the computer operates after that.
But only thing I care about is pics and my bookmarks. everything else is just flluff Thank you guys. I will will let you know how it all goes.
All that frikken nightmare and Jim flashes his sexy eyes at me and says "baby go Chrome" I do and problem solved. So Thank you Thank you everyone. I tried to follow everyones advice. But I have to give credit to the keeper of my moose heart.
Good, but always be prepared for any computer to die without warning, and they ALL die eventually unless discarded first. Make use of the time they work to prepare for when they do not, and ye will be a much happier user.
Your backup is sufficient if your current machine dies and you can load your backed up data to a fresh one without caring very much. If you buy a new PC, and the old one is still good, reload the operating system and save it as a backup spare.
This is not intended, at all, as a slam to you. It's more of a general warning to anyone reading the thread. It is easy to be ready, but frustrating to be unprepared.

I have my daughter backing up everything for me. This dinosaur will be a think of the past pretty soon.
I only keep aol because i have 472 contacts and really didn't want to have to change everything because that email is how everyone knows me. But I guess I can change huh? hell I swore i would never let anyone near my heart again and look what has happened. So I guess if i can let my heart be touched I can change email providers.
so perhaps this evening if all is quiet at motel I will venture in to changing everything. Guess i have my yahoo....no i hate yahoo for mail...maybe just Hotmail? That will work.
I still have my gomarsmom account there so I guess I will just flip switch and go.
Thanks sweetie. Your advice will be heeded. I am not totally hard headed. Just a wittle bit!
