I had the same problem with the Dash in our 86 F-150. Cracked and crumbling! A long time ago it was sprayed with sandy textured bedliner. That worked pretty well for about 8 years. Then it started rubbing off. I sprayed it with that textured "booger paint" as I call it, and that worked okish, but the cracks came back through.
I got really lucky last weekend at the junk yard. I found one in perfect condition, and it only cost me $11!
I can't wait to get my interior all put back together again. (I am redoing all the trim as well.)
