Dash pad source.

I am looking for a replacement dash pad for the 83. I can dye any color blue just need a source for the pad. I am not looking for a rug or cap to cover my original one. Does anyone sell these NOS or reproduce them?

Nope no NOS and aftermarket ones, But keep looking and Saving up Steal-bay has them occasionally, but expensive. Is yours cracked all over, or only the speaker hole area?

Dashes Direct makes reproductions using the original Ford tooling. I bought one a few years ago and it looks and fits like a factory original. They're not cheap but if you want a new, exact replacement its about your only option:

https://dashesdirect.com/product/198...ling-dash-pad/

I've heard Bronco Graveyard sells their own version at a cheaper price too but from what I've read the speaker grille is slightly different on theirs so it doesn't quite match the factory pad.

Did mine like new for less than $100.00. Some Hilti expando foam, a little bondo and lots of sanding. Painted over with spray on Duplicolor bed liner. It has a nice rubbery feel to it. I've shown it before, but I hate to see someone over pay for those cheap hard plastic covers.

Thanks I did not know about Dashes Direct. I may order from them at some point, so please report back on quality and fitment. Is that the same dash Dennis Carpenter sells? DC sells a full dash pad, not sure if they make it in house or source it from elsewhere? Dash Pad Black | Dennis Carpenter Ford Restoration Parts

As far as I know at this time the Dennis Carpenter dash is the same one Bronco Graveyard sells for 399.00. I have yet to see a photo of one.

The Dashes Direct dash is an exact copy of the original dash, built off the original ford tooling using materials supplied by the original supplier to Ford in the 80's. Dahses Direct is also licensed by Ford to produce it. The reviews of this dash that I have seen are all 5 star. The pictures of the dash look spot on to the original. I will post up some photos when it arrives and I install it.

AFAIK: Carpenter is buying their padded dashes from Just Dashes located in Van Nuys CA

Just Dashes has been around since grandma was a gal. Until now, I'd never heard of Dashes Direct.

Just Dashes not only sells repro's but also repairs padded dashes.

Yes....but if I wanted a 34 year old sunfaded, brittle piece I would have kept the one I had. I opted for a new one that will outlast me. Different strokes.

Appears they have beenin business since 1984 and licensed by Ford for 17 years. This is the first piece I have ordered from them so I will be sure to review it here reference fit, finish, and overall quality.

They have to have a Ford license if they're selling Ford (Lincoln/Mercury and etc) reproduction parts.

They have to have a Ford license selling NOS parts if Ford (Lincoln/Mercury etc.) appears in their business names.

But this was not always the case, this jazz began in the late 1970's.

In the late 1970's, Taiwanese sheet metal and grilles began to flood the US. Sellers of these parts used Ford and Ford part numbers in their catalogs.

FoMoCo sued, got the part numbers removed, but that was it. FoMoCo then began to patent these parts, but the Taiwanese ignored the patents.

In the mid 1980's, FoMoCo said that the obsolete parts sellers that used Ford as part of their business names had to pay a license fee.

Most changed their names, for example: Obsolete Ford Parts of Oklahoma City changed their name to Classic Auto Parts, but most just removed "Ford."

The repro parts sellers were also affected by this license fee jazz. One long time seller of repro Model A parts told FoMoCo's lawyers to go to hell!

When he set up at Carlisle, FoMoCo's lawyers and the polizei showed up and confiscated ALL his parts!
