Hello fellow Ford friends,
I have a 79 bronco that is getting ready for paint. I pulled the complete interior out of the truck less the dash pad. Just wondering if the dash pad can be removed without removing the dash? if so does anyone have any step by step instructions? If not I will also need some instructions on how to remove the whole dash.
Yes, there are ten nuts holding it on. Forget the size, wanna say ten MM. They are accessible from the instrument cluster hole in the dash and the glove box. You have to feel for them but there are 10.
sweet! thanks man, i guess i have to weave my fingers through all the wires to unplug the instrument cluster?
Also, i am on the fence on what to do "replace/repair" the dash pad. It has several fine typical slits (front to back) with no bulging. The top is still really straight other than the slits.
Has anyone attempted to repair the pad? maybe wrap it with some new vinyl? how about a dash pad cover- are they decent once installed? or should a guy just buy a whole replacement from one of the many suppliers?
