I am putting together a 1986 f150 4x4 for my boy and have come to the intererior dilema... cannot seem to find a replacement dash pad for it that is of any better condition... any suggestions as to where I can get one, or as to "other" year/models that would fit?
The only ones that will fit are from the 80's style like yours and the f-600/800/f-series trucks up to 97-98(?)
Depending on how bad your dash pad is.....you can buy either a carpet, or hard dash pad cover. And if you want new, Ford still sells them, but be prepared to fork out some serious coin for it.
Has anyone here used one from LMC? I just don't know about putting a cover on it, if they look decent or if they are just a vinyl version of carpet covers...
If you're thinking of a carpet cover, you could go to an auto trimmers and get some carpet of your choice and a tin of contact adhesive. Speaker box carpet is quite stretchy.
Hence the RHD. I believe it's pretty common there to have the wheel on the wrong side there.
Occasionally I'll see a Mustang getting around that still has the wheel on the 'right' side. Until you remember to check the other side of the car it looks like it's driving itself along.
ctubutis, thanks for the link, I'd forgotten about that post. I don't really have any better pics than that of how it was made. The PO had put some led lights in place of the push-ins for the warning lights and I made the mistake of leaving them there. High beam warning and indicator warning are way too bright for night driving so I'll get rid of them one day and put regular bulbs back in.
Hence the RHD. I believe it's pretty common there to have the wheel on the wrong side there.
It's the correct side actually. The French are to blame for LHD, haha.
I took a slightly different approach to my gauge cluster. Fibreglassed up all the holes, and made new ones. So much sanding... Sorry for the blurry second pic. Like ozstang, I'm reusing the old light panel.
Hence the RHD. I believe it's pretty common there to have the wheel on the wrong side there.
I was just saying how I dont see many RHD F-series trucks here....kinda neat. All I see/watch on tv are the older foreign cars, few to no domestic ones.
