Yes, it means your truck's computer has detecting an operating problem with the transmission.
You need to get it scanned with a scanner that supports "manufacturer-specific" codes in order to find out what the computer is complaining about.

Yours is a different issue. You have a frayed wiring harness wher it exits the shifter arm.
There's a difference between a repetitive, regular flashing and an intermittent, irregular flickering. Be sure you recognize the difference.

thanks but i had a friend with a sanner check it out and it is saying
that it is a intermitting bss code what is that web site where i can look up codes
i read somewhere in here that you can go to autozone to get it scanned then go to a web site to get what the code says

The intermittent VSS code is most likely the sensor getting weak. The computer bases a lot of decisions on that sensor.

yes it is vss i made a mistake you know what it is like with ford guys and more then one trucks hood open and thanks i am going to change it and will let you know how it does thanks
