I would unplug and clean all the connections out at the alternator and the regulator. Just messing around out there may fix it. Make sure you disconnect the battery before you start.
Are there any signs that the battery has been getting over charged? Is there a smell of rotten eggs near the battery?
Maybe, just maybe, the voltage regulator is on it's way out.
The next time the light is blinking, check the voltage at the battery to see if it's high. Check it at idle & reved up & then with the headlights on to see what you're getting.
