I am wanting a F-350 dually to pull a fifth wheel camper. I know in the past ford built 4 door duallys with short beds (6.5ft), because I have seen them. Since I will only be pulling with the truck I don't want the extra length but I would like 4 doors. I built and priced a dually on the ford website but they are only available with the long bed (8ft). I was wondering if anyone knows what years the short beds were made.
If i remember right it is '00 - '08 and the only colors are black or white unless you look for a earlier one (i.e. '00) with the Lariat LE Package which adds a graphics package and some other goodies. The shortie DRW option has been dropped for '09...
FWIW... The '08/'09 DRW 8' with the wide track front axle option actually has a slightly tighter turning diameter then a shortie with a regular axle. The only reason I mention this is I am not sure if it is the extra length that you do not want or if you are taking maneuverability into consideration...
It is just not as popular anymore since they added the wide track axle option to the long beds which actually allows them to out maneuver a shortie.
Interesting point... If the new wider front axle (w/ longbed) has the same turning radius as the previous narrower front axle (w/ shortbed), then I'd say it was better because you have the benefit of the additional cargo space of the longbed.
On the shortie dually, what was the wheel base for that? Does anyone know? I was thinking about turning my short wheel base into a dually and keep my crewcab if the wheel base was the same.

156" wheel base just like all other crew cab shorties...
