I welded a 3/4 fitting into my exhaust and ran my hose into my exhaust by the spare tire. I did a good job of hiding the hose along my frame rail you cant see it. I did howeverat first have it routed down by the rear axle and at times, could smell the fumes and see some white smoke. Now that its in the exhaust I never smell any fumes and rarely see the white smoke coming out that I did before

Sounds like a good idea, is their any worry of exhaust pressure pushing back in to the ccv. I am looking in to an exhause valve, guess i better put the 3/4 fitting down stream. This is a mod i plan to do in the next few weekends along with the harpoon mod any suggestions
I have read on the harpooning of the tank and the benefits of. IMO it's kind of a waste of time. It took me an extra 100 seconds to top up my tank (never do but thought I'd try it) to the filler neck bottom, which is pretty much what the MOD allows you to do without waiting due to the foam reduction
100 extra seconds is not worth spending hours doing a MOD like this IMO.
You can fill up w/ the 18 wheelers with the harpoon mod. It is incredibly fast. On long trips, you save a ton of time (a lot more than 100 seconds) when you fill up w/ the trucker pumps .......... especially if all of the car and light duty truck diesel pumps are being used. I like the mod, but I can see how some would find it marginally worth while.
it takes me a bit longer than 100 seconds to top of 3-4 gallons of fuel. most of the pumps anti spill mechanisms keep triggering no matter how hard i try to just trickle the flow of fuel in. i plan on doing it when i drop the tank to install my airdog ii (if it ever comes out...)
I figured out by taking the nozzle almost all the way out and feathering the nozzle to where the fuel barely runs out into the filler helps. The fuel will foam up to the neck a few times.
Sorry I havent posted pics on this topic but I will say that as far as the exhaust entering the ccv I have the fitting welded in at a slight anlge facing the rear of the exhaust pipe so that it exits with the exahust. It was really easy to do I had about 20 ft or so of 3/4 heater hose running to the rear axle of the truck and had it venting out into the open. The problem with that of course is the white smoke mist and the terriable smell that I could smell every so often. I had read and heard about this being done in the 7.3 forum as, I used to have an 02 7.3 but I myself had never done it. I decided to try it on this truck and it has worked great so far. All I did was drill a hole big enough to weld in the threaded 3/4 pipe fitting that I got at Home Depot right at the exhaust pipe where it begins to bend up and over the axle. Then I simple ran the 3/4 ccv hose I had hanging down at the rear axle into the 3/4 pipe fitting and used a hose clamp to secure it in place. Havent had a problem since
