How do I remove the padded part of the dash? This is the squishy piece that starts above the radio and is above the glove box. Mine is split and nasty looking and I would like to switch it from my spare dash. I have seen them for sale separately. Thanks.
There are several nuts on the underside of it. You can access most of the with the glove box out. You will probably have to remove the radio for the ones on that end of the pad.
Replaced mine not too long ago. It was cracked up, and I painted the new one to break up the red interior.
Dash pad=$8.change (Junk yard doner/red)
Paint=$2.50 (Krylon flat black)
Cold beer=$1.30
Results=Priceless
Before;
Get a stereo removal tool, for the two nuts are above and to the sides. 10mm I believe. A 1/4 inch socket set will be the way to go, close quarters on some of the nuts.
There are a total of 8, the doner pad I got had 2 on the stereo side, where my old one didn't.
Thanks guys. I will try to get some pictures when I get around to to doing this. HrdDrv: My dash pad is nowhere near as bad as that. I only have one little split about an inch long. But It still drives me crazy. Thanks again.
Well, its all done. I swapped the dash pad, glove box, the piece under the steering wheel, and the trim around the heater *****. Previously I swapped the seat, headliner, and all other interior trim panels except the kick panels and the dash itself which are light gray, everything else is dark gray. Then I broke out the ArmorAll and drank some beer. I will get some pictures sometime, I want to create a gallery. Thanks everyone for the advice, I'll stop talking now
