To change it take patience. You have to remove the interment bezel, the instrument cluster, the radio and heater control panel and the glove box liner.
Use a small 1/4 ratchet and a 5 or 7/32 socket?? Or what ever fits, I can't remember. Ten remove 2 nuts on the far left side close together, same for the far right. And then 5 more spread out in there.
Including the one on the dash center tip, remove all the nuts and take the dash pad right off. FYI use some duct tape to cover the sharp inner dash metal edges on the back side of the glove box.
It actually looks really good, although I haven't installed it in the cab yet,its been on at least a year now,and looks as sound as the day after it was installed. So I had my dash pad out of the truck, although its not necessary, and i did clamp it down in quite a few places for good bonding .
I've also been teetering on the dash pad purchase. Is it noticeable that its a cover? I can't quite decide between a new dash or a cover. Price wise I'd much rather do the cover, but I don't want it to be noticeable that I just threw something over top. Anyone have pictures of theirs?
its not noticeable,it actually looks nice sleek, one piece.clean,,,,I found a used dash that was blue, tried painting it,with sem.It didnot come out as clean as I would have liked,so I got the cover, and it looks good
I bought a used one off e-bay for $65.00 , no cracks or any other damage . It was the wrong color but i got some paint , dye or what ever it was . It was made for that vinyl , plastic use . Came with a cleaner you use first. Looks like new one now . I used it on the plastic door panels too. I'm not sure paint made for metal will work and look right. JIM
I used the sem on my old door panels ,came out great (black),I used the cleaner and all on the dash ,just did not cover as well, kinda blotchy .I found a near mint dash pad years ago ,,,,stored it in my attic,,wrong turned into a potato chip
Question for lafermedavid. What type adhesive did you use to attach the cover to your padded dash? I've got one of these covers that was in a truck I am parting out so don't have manufacturers data on type of adhesive to use.

Have not tried the one for the truck, but used one on an old British sports car I had - took a few trial fittings to get it to line up well on the dash but once applied, it looked as good as the original Brit black vinyl if not better. Had zero 'give' but its appearance was 10/10. If the truck one looked as good, I'd be happy.
