Turbo Barking?

I say turbo barking because thats what it sounds like to me. Whenever I step on it, let the boost build up, and then let off, it sounds like my turbo is.... well barking i guess. Or maybe its an evil laughing noise. I dunno. I'm hoping someone has had this problem and knows the noise im talking about. Ive heard it on my friends 7.3L also. Thanks for reading.

EDIT- I forgot to say, its and 07' 250 with 75,000 miles

Turbo Fart...from Bismic's post in the tech folder:

Definition of "Turbo Fart"

"Turbo fart" is caused by excess boost pressure on the cold side of the turbo. Since the VGT turbo does not use a waste gate, instead it controls the amount of boost by changing the size of the impeller blades. During hard excelleration, when you chop the throttle the engine & turbo are running at high boost levels, but the turbo vanes cannot respond quick enough to the decreased amount of boost need when the throttle is chopped (lifted quickly). So the excess inlet air has to go some where, and it backs up in the inlet side of the air intake and escapes out the air box.

If it's every once and a while its ok. If it does it nearly every acceleration then its probably a sign the turbo needs some work or replacing.

yes it is covered under the warranty for $100 deductible. Some have gotten it replaced w/o the deductible as they claim it falls under the emissions warranty but I think it varies from state to state.

I guess I don't know how to use the search feature very well.. I'm sorry guys, I know how you all get when someone asks instead of searching.

Thanks for the information. Now that you mention it, that's exactly where it sounds like its coming from. The air box. It doesn't do it all the time. I just did it twice. And it never did it before, so I knew something was up and needed to find out what it was. Warranty is good till 100k correct? I got 75k right now.

No problem...here is the link to the post that bismic mentioned earlier. Scroll down to post #8:

https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/8...urbo-abcs.html

And here is the link to the 6.0 Tech Folder. Lots of great info in it for your reading pleasure:

Yes, your warranty is good until 100k. Although, there were some trucks that had an extended warranty as a courtesy by Ford but I'm not sure of the exact dates of manufacture or which trucks were involved. You can check, but I think your truck may also be elligible for the 200k extended warranty. Others with more info on that can chime in because I don't want to misinform you.

Good luck with your truck!
