Its called turbo stall. It happens when the pressures on either side of the turbo suddenly change when boost demand drops such as a shift or letting off the throttle.
Mine does it with 38r and the larger 1.15 A/R exhaust housing also. It is less pronounced during normal driving and hardly noticable. Or, I've just become accustomed to it.
Yep it doesent sound good at all,it's like the boost is spinning the blades backwards. Is it hard on the blades and could it bend it or how about the bearings?
