Just the right bank, I'd start by making sure you are getting power to the coils through the harness for that side.

Well, if you have spark, next is fuel. Have you checked your fuel pressue?

fuel? yes I can smell unburnt fuel havent checked pressure, but this seems like something more on the lines of timing? or something causing it not to fire at the appropriate time. it seems like all the spark plugs on the right bank are fouled out or something, just doent seem feasible.

well according to this post this must not be very common at all. just got it back from the dealer ($85 dollars later)and cost of a tow to prevent any further issue, all they can say is its pointing to a timing issue as if the chain has slipped. not very happy with the diag. still looking for some clues before tearing into it.

Is it a constant thing, or is it an intermittent misfire across the entire bank?

If it's constant, and NONE of them are firing, valve timing makes sense. Have you checked for compression? If your valve timing is off you should see less compression than normal....

hi
its a constant no fire on right bank, ford garage used whatever electronic equipment to test and said it seems to have good compression, and that all seems to check out good. they want to tear into the front timing cover to know for sure. obviously they dont want to check compression the old fashion way(through the cylinder head) because of the plug issues. I have driven the truck when I had to for diagnostic and etc, but am afraid of bending valves,if this is the problem. getting ready to take truck to a ford mechanic(who now has his own shop) he will probably tear into it tomorrow. truck will bearly stay running at this point. any last minute knowledge? or even educated guesses? thanks

This whole thing is a bummer. When you first started this post, I wondered about the valve train. BTW. Next time something like that happens, don't run out and buy new coils. Just swap them with the left side to see what happens.

running on 4 was hard enough let alone taking one of those to put on the other side. dont think i could have kept it running for the test with 3 firing thanks

If you actually had a bad coil on the right side, and swapped it with one from the left side you would still have had 4 cylinders working but the trouble would have moved to one cylinder on the left, proving you had a bad coil. If nothing changed after the swap, that would prove you didn't have a bad coil. I was just trying to point out ways to prove you have a bad part before going out and throwing new parts at your truck.

I fogot to say in my last post, to be sure to let us know what they found.

I strongly suggest disconnecting your injectors on the bank that's not firing to avoid fuel being dumped into cylinders that aren't going to fire. All of that unburnt fuel entering your exhaust can foul your catalytic converter.

How many miles on the truck?

truck has 80k mi, now at the mechanics place, could hardly make it there with it yesterday, it seems as if on plug on the left is now fouling out almost had to be towed the rest of the way there last night. this truck had the ext 75k mi plan on it I wonder what the chances of getting any help from ford would be? yes I did unplug the injectors on the way there last night, but have previously driven the truck with them plugged in. so just hoping the cats are not a problem now. thanks
