im looking to build my ranger into a off-road vehical, its a 2006 3.0 sport and right now it has a gibson cat back, and afe intake thats it really i have a warn winch for it and just need to mount a battery for it sum how... any ideas on where i should go next on a power basis??
A bama engine programer, it should be good for about 10 hp and 15 lb's of torque. A set of under drive pullie's to free up a little more torque. Also a set of 4:30 or 4:56 gears and a tru-trac gear driven lsd for the rear diff. Crank the front torsion bars, this will allow you to run up to a 33" tire. This should give you a good start. You can get more info on the bama programer at: BamaChips Tuning.

His Ranger probably has 4.10's already. Going to 4.56 isn't going to be worth the money and effort.
wendell borror; Ford built your Ranger to go off roading with ease. Get a set of 31x10.50' in a Mud Tire and consider a suspenion lift. 4x4 Rangers don't come from the factory with enough lift, IMHO.
Ford builds a good prodcuct. You shouldn't have much to do to your Ranger. It should take you anywhere you want to go - short of climbing a tree.
just need to know where to get a good lift kit for it i think the sport modle that i have already has a 3" a lift in it and want to sum how get rid of rear springs if i could
My ranger will rip the bag off road, it has all the factory goodies. I've put on BFG AT KO's265/75-16's, thats a 32/10.50 in english. Suspension lifts for our trucks with torsion bars start at around 1,500.00$. So for now I just cranked the t-bars to level it. I get a few extra ponies from the 4.0 with an intake, catback, and a bama engine programer, Thats good for around 20 more hp, most of it comming from the bama.
well right now ill leave the suspension alone i got to find a way to to mount my warn winch i have a trailer hitch mount for it already just need to isolate the battery and run another into the bed and find a way to hold it down any ideas
well my uncle works for brigs and stratton in tennesse so i had him weld me up a hitch mount for it, i think its better to have it in the back any way, u usualy get stuck going INTO the puddle so y not pull ur self backwards and go around, i have about 20 feet of 00 gauge tank jumper cables to use so i just need to find a way to run it and a place i can put the second battery
Yeah, why winch your self further into the mess, when you need to back out of it. Alot of my jeep budies have a 2" reciever hitch on the rear and on the front bumper so they can set up the winch on either end, whatever is the most benifical at the time. I don't have a winch, I depend on them and walk alot ha ha.

I have a 85 ranger 4x4 302/c-4 setup.I run 2 AGM Batteries in the bed with a isolator under the hood.1 is for lights and winch and the other runs the truck.Works great.
U/D pullies for sure, check stuffforyourranger.com.. mine made a pretty big difference on a 3.0.. and the kit was super simple to install, they have great how to/ instructions..
The UDP is one of the better mods for the money and there pretty cheap for a 3.0. They cost allmost 300.00$ for the 4.0 because we have the balancer, but you can feel a difference.
