That looks like it needs more clearance to the firewall.
Heavy torque will twist the engine enough that it will be into the firewall hard.
Also what are you doing with the EBPV?
You are going to have to secure it in the open position at the least.
If you had a way to close it, cheap exhaust brake, but they are normally actuated by oil pressure on a Stroke motor.
As for the intake hat, I would go with heavier metal than exhaust pipe, just for the adility to have the mating intake end machined true and have a wider surface pressing on the O ring seal.
That is what Hypermax used an a 093 ATS turbo system when adding an intercooler.
thanks dave, for pointing that out about the firewall, i will hack it up some more so that when the motor flexes it will still clear cause if it hit that could really screw things up bad, i do have the ebpv tied off so it cant open, i did think about using it as a exaust brake but i decided against it after i talked to a powerstroke mechanic about using it as a exaust brake he said it was really hard on the strokes cause it puts so much back pressure on them, i dont know if thats true or not but thats what he said, i will probly take it completly out later on, right now i think i will try the exaust pipe for a pressure chamber and if it wont seal off good then i will go back and figure something else out, i thought about buying a pressure chamber, but that will run over my budget that i set for this project, right now if every thing goes the way it has been i should end up with only 300 dollars in everything, and it could be cheaper than that if i hadnt bought the most expensive boost gauge autozone had but o well, and i really have no idea if my pyrometer is correct or not as i have never seen it climb above 650 degrees pulling a mountain killing the wild life with my black smoke so who knows so looks like i will have to buy another gauge which will put me over budget anyway, but that dont matter, im willing to spend what it takes for it to work right, as of right now all i like getting it hooked up is the pressure chanmber and the downpipe, and im going to go back and change my version of the pedestal to the same as flatlanders on obn.
Now that you mention it, that is pretty close to the firewall. When I put a 60-1 compressor housing on my turbocharger, it came a little close, but not that close.
yea this thing is huge on the intake side, so i will probly do a little more to the firewall and find out what happens, but i dont want to butcher it all up.
hey dean i think if im not mistaken 1/4 thick pipe is called schedual 40 which is a strong sidewall we use this for fire sprinkler pipe systems which is rated fore 275psi.+ plenty strong plenty strong for what dyoung14 has planed

What is 3/8'' thick pipe called?
Dyoung, I got good news and bad news.
Good news tomorrow I'll send out 12'' of 5'' of 3/8'' sidewall pipe
Bad news is that you'll need to take it to a machine shop if ya want to use it because of two reasons.
1. The ends are real ugly. (I'm not sure if a chopsaw will get it as straight as you want it)
2. I measured and the intake on my 7.3 is 5 and 3/16'' across, but there is enough sidewall in the pipe to be able to take it to a machine shop and get them to shoulder it out 3/32.
All in all it'll probably cost you a good 20-40 bucks depends on the machine shop.
i think its schedule 30 or 35 i deal mostly with 40 and 80 80 being the thinest and 40 being the thickest that we use very rare we get a call for 25 which is found on 12" or biger pipe and used for underground fire tap
pmenlah only one is a e4od but its really bad wont shift stuck in 3rd gear but it is 4x4 brealy drives but runs strong i was going to rebuld them and cell them 1 buy 1
Joe my e4od wont go into 4th and rebuilding it will cost me 2500.00 i can buy a reman for 500.00 out of FL so im trying to blow it up and im not being to successful at that i have gotten reverse to go out when the temp stays @210 for more than 15 mi. but that took 5 months to do and Dean88 i dont know how pvc works we are just getting into cpvc fire rated plastic fire sprinkler pipe but i know 80 is thin and 40 is thickwall
oh i have to say Dean88 that im no expert by far im still learning all this stuff and i could even be wrong but not afraid to admit when i am wrong and have been wrong in the past
