If you have an exaust shop near by they may have something that big in there cut offs pile that they would probly give you if you don't want to wait for the mail order one.
it actually works perfect for me to wait for the pipe from dean, cause im buying a psd downpipe its clamp, a piece of a psd intake, and the part that puts pressure to the psd engine and its clamp. so im fine with waiting, but it may be a few weeks before i get this done i wont get to work as much now, spring break ends this weekend so its back to school and then to work in the evenings, so it may be 3-5 weeks before i get done but i will get it done.
How are you planning on clamping it on the intake to keep it from leaking? I'm just wondering how much play we can get away with.
How thick (side wall) does the pipe need to be?
well i really dont know about the side wall thickness, but as far as clamping goes block one side off with flat steel which i hav laying around, and drill a hole dead center and put a bolt in it like the air cleaner
I doubt it since the banks and ATS turbos were matched to the engine but we will see when he gets it done.
well something i saw the other day, my turbo has 2 different spots that have 2 different a/r's intake a/r 1.00, exaust a/r .84, i think it will work pretty good, heck for 300 dollars total i cant complain to bad.

Not trying to be a smart *** doubter, but how are you going to SEAL it around the intake.
Would you prefer thick wall heavy pipe or a thinner pipe you will have to braze instead of weld. Cuz I know for a fact I have a 10 feet of 5'' smoke stack (can you say chrome), then I have some good oil field stuff with 1/4'' sidewall, but I"m not sure what all sizes I have in that

im going to get a gasket that goes between the carb and aircleaner on a cheby, lol same size as our intake holes, and it would be better if it wasnt thin but how thin is thin? and you dont really need to cut up some nice smoke stacks do you? i would rather be able to weld it, but my grand pa can braze, but i guess thicker will kinda help seal better so then it would need to be 5 inch id pipe
They aren't pefectly good smoke stack so cutting a good piece out of them doesn't hurt me, they are three pieces of stacks from wrecked semi's, so they got bent ends and what not, but they reason I have them is the tips are still good, but the rest of the pipe isn't straight enough in a long enough piece to do anything with.
but I'll check and dig in my selection, I've gota good 200 piece pile behind my shop.

That should work fine to mount it thats how the ATS system mounts and seals the intake hat. I think you would probly want something a bit thicker than the smoke stack so you have a bigger seating surface.

Well when you get it done and i get my truck done if we are ever in the same area we should line em up I'll even bring you a presant
I'm assuming when you say it needs to be "perfectly flat" you mean the end needs to be true/square.
If that's the case have someone with a lathe square the ends for you. It wouldn't take much for someone to do that.
