272 v8 worth?

Do you know any more history? Ever been rebuilt? Is it in or out of the truck? Rust covered or pretty paint? Stored inside or out?
All these things add or subtract dollars to it value. A few years ago I was looking for a good 272 for a 56 I had - I would have paid $300 to $800 for a good runner, but that's just me. The $800 would have been for one that I could hear, see and smell running mounted in the truck. I would have paid $1200 for a freshly rebuilt one....
It really just depends on the buyer and what they are after. As the 292s are more readily available, I think most folk looking for a Y-block would swing that way, or to the 312. I'm a stocker, so I was after a 272 specifically and did not have an interest in the 292.
