Question 272 engine code

I bought a 1956 F-100 over the weekend. Appears it has been in California all it life mainly the Lucerne Valley High Desert area. It really seems to have good potential because it's dry and all stock. By the vin it came with a 223 but it has I THINK, a 272 or 292 in it? I don't have any pictures right now unfortunatly. I've seen pictures of a 272 and this engine has the cross over exhaust pipe in front. The engine numbers are upside down next to generator. The block appears to read: ECG6015A the intake manifold reads: B9EA 9425-B .The engine mounts are on sides not the front. Do you think I have a 272 ? thanks

Cross-over pipe for exhaust.....in 56 it will be a 272, unless swapped out over the years.

well, if it is a 292 or 272 because the dual exhaust manifolds hit the steering box, so it could be either, and if its a 272 then it can be bored out to a 292. Pistons are extremely cheap for a standard 292, they are $100 for 8!

Hope this shows up. I need to find the actual cross pipe and correct exhaust manifold for right side the left is good. How the former owner ran it makes me wonder.

which engine?

B9EA would be a 59 model. The crossover pipes were only on the trucks. Motor mounts were on the side for all cars except Thunderbird. Thunderbird and trucks share front and rear motor mounts.

Well I blew the picture but the thought of a T-bird motor makes sense. The motor mounts are directly on the sides and the left side exhaust is flipped with no cross pipe attaching the right side. I really wondered what kind of motor this was. I know a mouse use to call it home by the nest in water jacket. Thanks
