also i talked to a guy at clements in branson, he said he could get either a m5sod (mazada 5 speed) or a ZF series 2wd tranny for about 675, if anyone's interested. also i'm on the lookout for either or for my truck. just alot cheaper! i saw the zf was qualified for up to 470lbs of torque and i'll never get that out of my poor little I6. so i think the M5sod would probably be cheaper and better for my uses. also i know i have to change clutch and flywheel and pressure plate perhaps? but right now i have a extra heavy duty clutch system <clutch is super stiff and i love it!> is there anyway to keep that stiff feeling and the heaver clutch ? i rember ches once mentioning somthing about swapping springs in pressure plates to make them stiffer, or was that karissa's dad..... well ches will speak up
so keep an ear out for a 87-92 F series gas truck with a manual 5 speed. really want to keep this under 400 bucks. but if someone can land one for 100 along with all the parts i need i'd be more than happy to throw them a extra fifty.... no guarentees but i'd sure be inclined to
Terry, welcome back into the "clan of the Ford truck" slick ol rig, at least she's RED. hitman I'll ck as see what that newer truck had in it, up here at the local yard.
I borrowed a buffer. Bought a bottle of 3M super duty Rubbing Compound. (05954) Worked on the hood. it looks a lot better but the paint is thin and the under color is showing though. I will work on the rest of the truck this weekend.
hittman1422, dude I am not even in the United States, but as soon as I am, and have taken care of a few pressing matters, I will hit the local yard up the street and look for you an engine.
Want to make sure you are looking for a 302 carb or EFI? And outa what year trucks will work? Sorry I have never owned anything newer than 79 Ford.
There are a few 80's, 90's and 2000ish one's there, IM me with the details and your contact #. I'll call you probably early on next week, ok ?
Every 4x4 I have looked at has the 1/4 panel crushed. I almost traded my truck today for a 94 power stroke but it had 401,xxx miles and some body damage.
Well I have a carb on and going now. But NO f'n spark. New coil, not sure of wich wire should be where. Last engine I had in the truck I used my HEI. Wireing was butchered on the truck when I got it. Before you ask, my HEI won't work. Shaft is too short, won't even make it to gear on cam.
So what wire goes where, when you're working with pre-cut wiring.
Bob
