Well, my HPOP oil was changed when the motor was pulled out. My mechanic went in and replaced the screen since it had a good bit of junk on it. So I know it was cleaned out at 301K, but not sure if it was done prior to 280K when I bought it.
My screen was clean at 260k, as was the screen in an 02 work truck with about 200k on it. The inside of the front cover was also clean when we pulled it off, but that's a different story.
I could understand in certain cases that are mentioned above for changing it out. But Bill's(powerstrokehelp guy) reason for doing it b/c he says" the system is design to circulate the HPOP oil with the rest of the oil, however it doesnt quite work that way"
But yet if you ran the truck with the valve covers off, you could clearly see the oil coming out of the oil jets.
As mentioned before, he does perform some tasks that are pretty good to know how to do, but his reasons for some of them are just about de de dee.
By the way, i'm workin on loading up the pics for proof of the email sent to him, give me a few min.
Look at the second pic Ron posted. If you remove the top half of the HPOP reservoir you'll see an o-ring in the little groove going around the part in the pic. The hole on the right side is where the screen is.
Not really. It just sits there. If I remember correctly, Ron had a bad O-ring there and it caused a small drip off the front of his truck for quite a while before he got around to pulling the top and finding it.
For a while I used to think that the Powerstrokehelp.com guy was trying to help, but that he just had some misinformation in his videos. Then I saw the PMR vs. Forged Rod video that he put out a few weeks ago, and at that point I lost all respect for him. Not only was he 100% wrong in that video, but he even takes a jab at us "forum guys". IMO he is a complete and total tard that does more harm than good in the PSD world, and his "advice" needs to be ignored.
What gets me is that on his homepage, he states that he spent 15 yrs or whatever at a dealership. I dont know about you guys, but most dealerships I have been to, 4/5 mech know less than I do, and they have been there for awhile.
When I was at the zinc mines for a little while after college, working as an underground diesel mech, before they shut down, I worked on everything from from CAT articulating trucks and R2900G loaders, to kubota tractors, cannon bolt/drill rigs. And every so often, a CAT training guy would come down and we would have 8 hrs of class for 1-3 days on some of the equipment, then I would work 8 hrs night shift that night to catch back up on work.
Now i'm pretty sure dealerships have the same type of programs, but I would like to know whether or not the mechs were required to pass test's or answer questions individually as we did? idk maybe just me

so what all is he wrong about? i have watched most of his videos i thought they were decent. but the only experiance with diesels is mainly what i have learned from working on my truck. and you fellers on here taught me most of what i know about it

Watch the PMR vs Forged rod video. His some of his outrageous claims include that PMR's bread because of high RPM's (false), that they break from tension instead of pressure (false), and that the 7.3L PMR's are just as strong as 6.0L PMR's (false).
There are other videos where he is flat out ripping off his customers. The first is out of ignorance, the second is **** poor workmanship. In this first video, he has a PSD come in for new injectors. He pops them in and sends the truck on it's way, all the while claiming it ran fine when it left the shop. A few weeks later the truck shows up with a cracked piston. The problem in this video is that he used Pensacola Injectors, which are the absolute worst injectors you can buy. Their build quality is crap, they don't flow match or bench test any of them, and I am positive he put a bad injector in that pissed out so much fuel it put a hole in the piston. Yet that guy still loves Pensacola Injectors, and fails to see where the problem is.
In this 2nd video, the guy can't even build a transmission that will make it beyond several thousand miles. Instead he is blaming the gearing on the truck for burning up the clutch material inside the trans. By doing so, he is even stating that the guy is getting no warranty on his transmission. What a load of crap. Get a good quality trans builder like BTS or John Woods, and they don't make excuses like this guy. They can and do build transmissions that handle much more abuse, and they still honor their warranty too. So basically, he is completely ripping off his customer in this video.
You're spot-on, Curtis. I watched a few of his vids more for the comedic aspect than anything else. The only thing that I think you can gleam from the vids is a look at the inside of whatever you're working on if you've never been into it before. I watched his WW install and found at least a half dozen incorrect statement and flat out wrong info. Then he installed & removed the wheel with and **IMPACT WRENCH**.
That turd wouldn't set foot anywhere near my truck...
