Possible dpf retrofit

For some reason I googled DPF's and read on wikilpedia that california is considering by 2013 all diesil engines built without the particulate filters will need to be retrofitted.

I am certainly not looking forward to that day, even if I live here in the great white north I sure would be pissed right off if i had to stick some abortion on my truck.

I surly hope this does not happen.

I would move out of state if I lived in Komyfornia. It might happen in CA but I don't see it spreading much further at least for the next decade.

i cant see them forcing older private vehicles to be altered. commercial is a different story but even then its a hard case to win

2002 - In Japan the Prefecture of Tokyo passed a law banning trucks without filters from entering the city limits.
2003 - Mexico City started a program to retrofit trucks
2001 - Hong Kong retrofit program
2004 - New York City retrofit program (non-road)
2008 - Milan Ecopass area traffic charge, charging a hefty entrance tax on all diesel vehicles except for those with a particulate filter, either stock or retrofit
2008 - London Low Emission Zone charges charging vehicles that do not meet emission standard encourages retrofit filters

For us I think the inspections are only for trucks 98 and newer. I may be wrong but thats my understanding.

In NY they just do a safety inspection on trucks under 8000 pounds. I would be surprised if they started doing emissions and forced a retrofit on anyone. How many of you guys have to deal with a emission test?
