02 E4OD to 97

Hey guys.* I'm new here trying to help a buddy out with his F-350.* It is a 1997 and the tranny with 300k on it has met its maker.* I found an F-250 E4OD in the area.* The question for you guys is will it fit.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I don’t want to be in possession of a transmission that does not fit.

Welcome to FTE. you need to give us more info on the trans you want to swap.
Same year? ect ect.
The trans needs to be from a diesel...gassers won't work.
If it's 2wd then the tran will need a new output shaft, needs to be disassemble for that.

IIRC it was in 97 when the new body style was introduced..but don't quote me, the trannie gurus will set it straight.

It was 1999 when the new body style was introduced and the E4OD was changed for the 4R100.

yup but the outer dimensions are the same i believe? everything about is the same except for some internal stuff right?
please correct this if i'm wrong i haven't heard any comparisons about these 2 transmissions in at least a year
