What Transmission
I have a 1996 f350 5.8l that needs a tranmission the shift cable is like a e4od but the crossmember is too short for the e4od i have that and it was too large would have had to cut body to get it to fit. took the VIN to dealer and was told it needs a c6 but it has an overdrive button on shifter.
Anybody have any thoughts?

What is the trans code on the drivers door pillar? That truck should should have come with an E4OD but a PO could have swapped something else in, does it shift 3 times when accelerating up through the gears? Failing all else take some pics and post them up.
