Hoses

I used a Hose Clamp Pliers to remove a radiator hose clamps on a school car today, It was the Matco brand, man what great tool, I was having problems using channel lock pliers, there was no room, used the Hose Clamp Pliers, and moved the clamp of the hose.

I would recommend a setup like this. <!--emo&--><!--endemo--> <!--emo&--><!--endemo-->

Yup, I have the Matco ones, and they are indispensable working on just about anything made by Chrysler.

Not much sweeter than having (and using) the right tool for the job.

Not aware there is a special tool, replaced the radiator hoses on the truck couple weeks ago and could have used it. Had to 'google', what an interesting looking contraption, expensive but imagine mechanic, or radiator shop would want to have one on hand. Have a strap wrench I hardly use, seems it may work as a substitute, wish I had thought to giving it a try.

another very good tool to have in your box is a hose release tool. it looks kinda sorta like a bent screwdriver. you stick it in between the hose and hose nipple, run it around, and then the hose pops rite off.

Yes, that's what I thought.
If hoses are that stuck on I usually just slice them, peel them off and replace them.

It's not worth it to me (on my own vehicles) to be stuck somewhere because of a questionable piece of rubber.

It's a really bad idea to cut a hose off a plastic radiator neck, since the new hose can't really seal on the mark left by the knife. I made a hose loosener by heating and bending a long flathead screwdriver I had already broken. Made the "L" portion about 2" long, and it worked very well until somebody else needed it more.

Oh Jared,

I don't usually cut them of the radiator, it doesn't get rusty and corrode under the hose.
Once the engine end is free you can twist what's left of the hose right off.
