Don't have a pellet stove, but love the woodstove we heat the house with.
I am partial to the idea of getting my fuel for free (just my own labor, that is) from friends or craigslist rather than buying it from someone.
Anyone heat their garage with a pellet stove? I like the pellet stove over the wood stoves due to ease of storge of pellets. Any thoughts appreciated.
I use a wood stove, mainly due to the fact I cut my own firewood from my land. It only costs me my labor, some gas for the chainsaw and about $60 to rent a splitter.
My local daily free newspaper had an ad for "wood bricks" so I did a web search and I found this site: U.S. Recycled Wood Products
They are located in PA, so maybe the costs are lower for you then trucking them up here to NH. One of their claims is ease of storage. I haven't bought or used them, so I can't comment on their overall cost/performance.

HAven't used these, but have seen them for sale locally and in craigslist locally. Newspaper just did a story about the guys and their product.
Seems like a good enough idea.
Some comments on craigslist that claimed they didn't burn well, but you take that with a grain of salt. I wouldn't judge 'em until I tried them myself.
Need to replace our wood burner in year or so and considering pellet. Average cord of wood in this area runs around $350. Like the fact pellets don't take up as much storage space. Understand they can go thru pellets so likely buy a flat at a time, also, the local suppliers tend to run out. Main issue with me is the hopper required 110v to operate and one of the down sides of living in the mountains is the occasional power outage. Have not checked lately, would assume someone would have come up with a backup system for those occasion. When it come time to replace the wood burner intend to revisit the Pellet stove.
Bought a pellet stove for the house in Dec. Heat this winter will be about 1/2 of normal(LP). I work at a company that makes grass pellets from native grasses. No complaints.
