hi again. I just took out my seat(71 F100) and carpet. I was relieved that I didn't find any rust or holes under it. I only have small holes in the center of the floor pan. I just don"t know how to go about this. Should I get more floor pans or buy some type of sheet metal and weld that in it. IF sheet metal, what kind and how thick? the holes are in a diameter of 1ft x 1ft on both sides. any advice? thankssssssssss
Well that just depends on the purpose of the truck. If you are not restoring it to 100 original make your own.
Just cut out the bad rust and check in the outlying areas for the floor to be thin, you dont want that either then cut it all out to where what yuo have left is the original ga. of floor.
I would use 18ga. and mig weld it in place.
This will work good but there always about 5 other ways too!
Hi, unless you are doing a total restore to show I would make my own like BLUE said Just make sure you lap the metal in the right direction (patch on the inside at the front, patch on the under side of the floor at the rear) this helps stop the scooping action when you drive thru a puddle and makes it easier to seal the inside against water.
