Floor Pans

I'm thinking about making my own floor pans for my 73 F-350. I'm planning on using a regular sheet metal and welding them in. My question is has any one done this and how hard is it to do, and could it work? or should I just buy new ones from LMC or JC Whitney and just weld them in.

I did exactly that to mine. It's not hard, just fitting the steel to the cutout is tricky. The material I used is good old American Steel, twice as thick as anything LMC has, and it didn't cost me a dime. I did use slightly thicker steel for the drivers side...in case of an IED. Both sides are done, and coated with spray-in bedliner material for sound deadener.

Thanks for the help. That looks good, I hope that when I get mine done it comes out looking like that. What the best type of sheet metal to use for this? I dont have any around the house so im going to have to go buy some but dont know what type I should use?

IED? where are you going to be driving your truck iraq? lol. i looked at your profile and saw that your from lawton so the biggist thing that you would have to worry about as far as things blowing up is a lost artillery round missing it target over at fort sill.

Mine also needed cab mounts, so it was a bit of an undertaking. Just use regular old sheet steel, either from your local scrap yard or steel warehouse. I think mine was 18 gauge, but I'm not sure.

Nice job on the floor. Thats something I need to do but have been putting off, as well as the cab mounts. Now I can see the results with a little work. Might give me the gumption to start my floors!
