this is my first time working with sheet metal, and i'm lost.
1965 F100. floor pans are shot. i've got replacement panels from Dennis Carpenter. The website says they fit 65-72, the sticker on the panels say 67-72. hmm. but they look like the right ones.
my question-
i've read the online articles about cutting, drilling out spot welds, etc- but there's nothing under these pans except some sort of panel that seems to tie into the cab mount. i don't see any spot welds, so i don't know how to get the pan out...i'm guessing i'm not supposed to cut the reinforced piece?
here's a pic of the underside of the driver-side pan. reinforced piece has red arrow pointing to it.
Just my 2 cents, but I replaced the cab supports and the floor pans at the same time. I thought my cab supports were fine when I bought my truck in 3 years ago, but I was proven wrong. I bought the pans and then looked underneath to start the process, and the supports were rotted out. They can be done without pulling the cab, but they are not easy.
if you look in the picture I posted and you can see the cab support with the floor out.
the reinforcement panel that you show is actually the cab mount. If you wire wheel the floor from the inside of the cab, around the perimeter of the cab mount, you should be able to find some spot welds. Here's a picture of mine showing some of the spot weld drilled out.
