I have a 2002 7.3L and my dip stick has been giving me a really hard time. It comes out smoothly no problem but when I go to put it back in it's almost impossible. Taking about 2-3 minutes to get it back in. It's a pain to check the oil and I'm just wondering if anyone else has ever experienced this?
Is it hard to replace the dipstick and or housing? I don't notice any abnormal bends in the stick itself. Do I need to drain the oil when I replace it?
Its real simple. order a new tube and oring. Unbolt the tube bracket at the valve cover and pull the old one out. Lube the new oring and place on new dipstick tube. install tube into the oil pan flange. you don't need to remove the flange in the oil pan. not even a 1 beer job. Barney
