I replaced my oil pump to a high volume pump from stock about a month ago having no problems. Just recently i replaced my valve cover vent with a vent that has a hose attachment to connect it to the air filter because the one i had was allowing oil to escape all over my valve cover. That night i looked under my truck and saw a puddle of oil all over the ground. That next day i added 4 qts of oil back to my truck to replace what was lost. When i looked under my hood as i was adding the new oil i noticed every thing to the right of my dip stick was covered in oil including the dip stick. I cleaned off all the oil and ran the truck and nothing leaked just a little smoke out of the tip of the dip stick. That night after driving my truck w/ no problems i looked under it again and found it had leaked again but not as bad but but oil covered all the same places in the engine compartment again. If the oil is coming out of the top of the dip stick tube like i think it is, I think have a pressure problem but im not quite sure what is causeing it?
I talked to a trusted mechanic about oil leaking in my truck. He said he just got done replacing the engine in my truck's "twin". He said oil was leaking out everywhere, even the dipstick. He said that engine was shot...
Now, I hope it isn't that. What kind of truck are we talking here? What mileage? What has it been used for? Has it been run hard? Any previous history of leaking? Does it look like blown gaskets? Run engine dye through it so you can tell exactly where it is leaking. I sure hope its something simple...
Do you have a PCV valve? If you have one and a breather and yoy are still having excess cranksase preasure then I would you have a problem. Blowby is probably the cause, meaning the rings are not sealing and cuasing excess crank case preasure. Do a leak down test and that will tell you whats up. Do you have stock valve covers or chromies? Usually chromies dont have baffles and will throw oil up into the breathers, thus a big problem. Let me know.

I had some serious blow by from the dipstick on my 460 as well. I replaced the PCV valve and it helped a little, but didn't solve it completely. It turned out that my rings were shot. Since I replaced them, I haven't had a problem.
My trucks a 78 F150 with a 72 460 bored 20 over. I use to be just a play truck daily driver but now its just a daily driver, it was never beat on. I have after market chrome valve covers and a pcv valve. I've had problems in the past of a little oil leaking but never this bad, it only leaked a little out of the mains. The oil only started leaking bad after i put the different breather on. Is it possible that switching the breather blew something from constricting the ventilation?
