what to get a front wheel alignment or a 4 wheel alignment going to get new tires at townfair an they give you a free front wheel alignment or should i pay a lil more for the 4 wheel alignment i dont think f250s need the back alignment but they r trying to say i need to get a 4 wheel alignment??
thats what i thought they said for $39 more we can do a 4 wheel alignment i get a free front wheel alignment when you buy 2 tires (townfair) so then i should just go with the front wheel alignment an save myself $39 then??
The two-wheel and four-wheel will turn out the same unless your rear axle isn't square to the frame. Two-wheel they alight the front axle to the vehicle centerline, four-wheel they align the front to the rear axle.
See, I think the terms are getting kind of messed up, and I sort of played into that as well (I should have explained it in my last post). Where I'm from they have three types of alignment (although, there's really front and rear). What I would ask for, where I live, at my local alignment shops, is a "front wheel with rear thrust alignment" or a "thrust angle alignment". It is a 2 wheel alignment, with reference to the the thrust angle (the orientation of the rear axle/wheels). Your axles don't technically have to point straight relative to the frame/vehicle that's sitting on top of it; however, both the front and the rear need to point the same direction, so you'll get a two wheel alignment (not a four wheel alignment, because the rear is non-adjustable), with a reference to the rear axle to make sure everything is pointing in the same direction, front and rear. Is that confusing, or what. It's not a four wheel alignment, but it's a front wheel alignment (two wheel), with thrust angle reference. It'd be easier maybe if shops referred to them as front wheel alignment, rear wheel alignment, or four wheel alignment, but not all shops do it that way.
When you say thrust alignment, there isn't really one, it's really just referencing which way your rear wheels are pointing and aligning the front to match in direction...then aligning camber, caster, toe within spec (of the front wheels only).
yea thanks well my truck only has 25K on it an im gettin new tires an i get a free front wheel alignment so im wondering if i should pay the extra $50 for the thrust or if i would be fine with just the front wheel since my truck only has 25K on it
If the thing drives straight down the road, just get the front-wheel alignment. With low miles, it's not needed, and especially if you've never been in an accident.
