ace hardware has a product...looks like milk...pour it on and let it dry, then sweep it away.

I always soak and scrub with mineral spirits or paint thinner, charcoal lighter fluid (take your pick) then put oil dry,cat litter may work while it's wet.Let it sit
if any is left a little muratic acid will get it but will leave a white spot
Or scrub with caustic concrete cleaner

Wow... I just popped in to see what was going on, and you guys are talking about the very thing I need after this past weekend. Changed oil in two 7.3's and with the last one, as I was dropping the filter down it flipped in my hand and dumped the entire load of dirty oil down my arm, up my sleeves and all over the concrete driveway. Being late at night, we didn't prep the cleanup well enough and there's an ugly stain now... even after pressure washing and using Simple Green yesterday afternoon.

I know I should have popped a hole in the bottom of the filter, drained the oil, and removed it with a gallon zip lock bag around it.... but I didn't. I'll do that from now on.

I'm just thankful that it happened with the vehicle that had not been running all day!

I have both some fresh and old stains. The worst old one is one that I couldn't even tell was there for the past month because the driveway was so dirty (oldest son missed the catch pan when changing the oil in his VW and never got back to it to clean it up). When I pressure washed the driveway yesterday, it showed up very, very clearly.

I had read yesterday afternoon about the same stuff Mark mentioned, and it gets good reports for working on both old and fresh stains, so I'm going to track it down and give it a try.

Hey Melissa! I like the '59.

If you put down oil dry and put on your best pair of sneakers and do the Twist. Literally! Grind that stuff into the oil spots with the ball of your foot in works really well. Old or new stain. More dancing needed on the older spots though. lol

Thanks Jay! I wont even steam clean the engine because my dads fingerprints on it. I have his cigarette butts and every paper unreadable or not that he had in it because I didn't get to know him and it is all I have. It is called Big Bad John because of my dad. That was his nick name. But Its fun name is Horns and Rattles because that is me to a tee.

I do not know why I didn't think about this but when you said do the twist it not only made me think of something funny but it made me remember my grandad had a tractor that leaked on concrete pad. We had to put Tide powder down add some water and do the twist for an hour or so. It took 90% of it up.

Cherish the things you can Mel.

My neighbors think I'm odd but that's ok. It really does work! And cheap and enviro friendly if that's important to anybody.
