Mark, I hated to read about your MRI results. I know that they've given you limited options. Have you thought about seeking a second opinion just to make sure that all the bases are covered?
When Dad was dying last year, one surgeon said they would not recommend inserting an esophageal stint because he would lose the "check valve" function at the top of the stomach and if he laid down after eating, the food would just come right back up. We took his word for it at the time, but I later chose to do some investigating and discovered that there is a different type of stint which has been in use for Dad's exact situation for over 5 years all across the country, and it includes a check valve to prevent the problem Dad's doc was wanting to avoid.
We chose to not pursue it any further because they had by that time discovered that his esophageal cancer had returned with a vengeance and was in his lungs, thyroid, and hip... just wasn't worth putting Dad through the surgery for something that would not really gain him anything.
Long story... but the point is that not all the docs are completely up-to-date on everything. Perhaps yours are, which I would hope to be the case on one hand, but it would also be great if someone else knows of some other options which might be helpful.
Morning everyone Might be the last day for this job I have been doing for just about 2 weeks now, I am pumped! I just hope the inspector got laid last night and is in a good mood this morning haha.
Mark, sorry to hear about your test results. I agree 100% with big Pete. Get a second opinion.
Have fun at Clay's everyone that is going. Wish I could have made that work but I am going salmon and trout fishing so I will be leaving work at 12 today. WooooHoooo!
Enjoy the fishing Jay... sounds like fun, though I think I would almost rather be at Riffraff West myself. I'll be leaving shortly to run to my son's apartment two hours away to swap out keys and locks with the apartment manager, get his timer reactivated on his window lamp while he's still away in England, and then drive another 3-1/2 hours to Mobile to see my Mom and grill out there on Saturday with my older brother, older sister, younger sister, and possibly one uncle... all of whom I've not seen since Dad died last fall.
My oldest daughter is going with me as well, so I'll have excellent company on the drive... the only trouble with that is that she looks like a 25 year old, is gorgeous, and people look at me like a cradle-robber when they see the two of us together.
I hope everyone else has a great weekend... be SAFE folks!!
And once mom gets home we're leaving for Pennsylvania to go see a Red Sox - Phillies game. That and apparently I've got to do some tree work at my aunt's house. Don't quite know the extent of it, but I'm bringing along the 290 and polesaw along with all necessary items to go with them. (fuel, bar oil, files, wedges, chaps, forestry helmet)
Always easier to have something and not need it than need it and not have it.
