Fence pictures

It doesn't look like much in this picture, but this whole area was under 20 years worth of fir trees dropping needles, branches, blackberry brambles growing and clogging up the ditch.
I had help with the ditch, my neighbor over the back fence grabbed his shovel and wheel barrow and helped out. I was grateful for his help.
I'm not afraid to work, but many hands lighten the load.

25 years ago when I bought this house the ditch was nice and clear because the previous owner kept it that way.
And my laziness about keeping up with that cost me a flooded back yard the past three years.
The muddy area in front of the new fence had standing water just two days ago.

Now it's completely drained away in just 24 hours of finishing the digging.

So I am rebuilding the whole fence with removable panels along the back. I can lift the panel out, dig out the accumulation and return it to it's place.

More pictures

I'm just getting started, the whole fence is going to be replaced by this fall. One panel at a time.
I have to have a 6' fence because of the swimming pool that I put in. Insurance classifies it as an " attractive nuisance" that will attract the neigborhood kids. They would not underwrite us without the tall fence to hide it from the general public.
Plus I kind of like the privacy that it gives us.

The pallet load of wood. It will not be enough to complete the project, but it is a good start.

The brackets that I am using along the back row that will make it easy to lift out the panels for when I have to clear the ditch.

And now I am going back out to make more panels.

Wow, if I was Troy, I would be more than a little concerned.
I hope you feel better soon.
The ex hangs around quite a bit, but I only really see him on his daughters birthday. It really seems like a strange situation to me but I don't have to live it. I just feel for my new brother in law, I know I wouldn't want Troy's ex hanging around and drinking all the time.

I was wondering what crawler harvest was too.

Why would you be concerned, I am sure Kriss likes her quite time or am I the only one?

A crawler harvest...nightcrawlers. Watered the crap out of the lawn last night and went out and caught some nightcrawlers for fishin today. Man those things are HUUUUGEE here in Iowa. haha.
I didn't know it was going to be multiple injections either but since the first round didn't work I am trying it again. You would think they could find a cause for this but I don't have much faith in my Neuro.

Have fun fishing today!!!

Lisa thanks for the comps on Holland. She is cute as hell with a personality to match. You should see her play football. In the weight room she will kick butt on the press. The boys in 7th grade are pretty much wussy arms at this stage in life.

Night crawler thing sounds like way too much fun. So much fun I'm gonna let you do it all. We used to use screw drivers with wires...something my brother made to bring em up outta the ground. I cannot really remember but kinda weird.

Cris I hope you can just figure these headaches out and get rid of em once and for all. At least if they tell you they cant find anything, its all in your head you can look at them and say "DUH"

I liked the movie. Lighting was off a bit but it was great just the same. Too bad we weren't closer you could use my horse. Jake will jump through a wood frame window (so long as the bottom isnt more than 2 feet off ground) walk up and down steps, put his front hooves up on chair (has to be super strong) rear slightly as in high oh silver away and best of all throw back a Bud Light in a bottle or sassparilla.

Dan I am glad you didnt have to redo all the posts. cant wait to see pics.

John...I like the new avatar. that one is funny but the sink one rocked...lol
Morning Moose!

Holland is beautiful! I don't know how you do it, raise girls. I have 2 and I am so not looking forward to when they hit 13 and up.... I am skurred. lol.

They have told me they can't find anything besides what looks like to be a tiny aneurysm/twist or turned vein. But that shouldn't be causing me any pain. I have a follow up with the brain surgeon in Aug but I don't think anything will come of it, he just wants to watch it.

Thanks Cris. Holland is with her dad in Texas. I had her for 12 years and since he is old and feeble and has a heart condition she had bad case of the guilts. (okay he is just 65 but does have health condition) she was scared she would have regrets if he died and she didnt spend time with him. There were a few other issues main one which begins with Ritz and ends in Motel. GRRRR she couldn't handle motel life in general. Too much for a wee one. That is why I have been planning move to Texas for several months now. Just need to be close to her.
Other girls are grown and gone. Except for 24 y/o she lives in apt upstairs while her fiancee finishes installing cable in near by town.
Holland is by far my fav. she is funniest being ever. You cannot be sad around her.

Great job on fence. I have never thought of the "lift" idea. That is ingenious. Your wife's secret name must be Pinky cause your the "BRAIN" (insert a bit of evil laughter here)

Howdy Jim...you are so sexy after a round of lawn mowin! Tell J-L she has had cherries, strawberries and watermelon..ask her if she has any gwapes?

Grunt? I'm not sure what that means. Only way I know how to catch worms is by pulling them out of the ground.

Not raining here, yet. Windy though and looks a little threatening at times. Not nearly as nice as it was yesterday.

Well fishin was ok. A little too windy for my taste. And Randy wanted to bring Mattie and she was being a PITA...so we came back a lil early.

No fishes, Randy lost a crappie and I almost caught a bullfrog.

Saw this one the way home. Made me laugh. I blew a "cute" little cloud of black smoke all over her "cute" Jeep.

After a hour and a half of cleaning fish,we had a two gallon bucket of fish fillets.

We are going to go out to mom and dads and fry them up in just a little while.
Dad called and some of are family showed up and said the fish are bitting today as good as yesterday. So more fun far all.

Dan,nice job on the fence. Its nice when your neighbors pitch in to help.

Cris I was speaking in terms of being concerned for your health with those nagging headaches.
Kriss and I love our quiet times as well. Both of us are very introverted and don't like large crowds.
I clam up and stand in a corner, then leave as soon as it is socially acceptable.
.
Lisa, time to get a river boat.
.
Brad that is a LOT of fish. Congrats to your daughter for her first fish.
Kriss tells me that her fondest childhood memories are the ones where her dad took her out fishing, hiking, camping.
.
Moose, hang in there, it will soon be over and you can start a new chapter in your life.

Lisa, Mattie has that Little Miss Innocent look on here face! I love it! Sorry you didn't catch anything...

Brad, great picture of you and your daughter!

Dan, we really aren't worried about my health, at least I'm not. All my other test have come back fine so overall I am good. I just need my headache to go away and life will be good again!!

I think I am going to take my kids to my mom's to go swimming for a little bit. Hope everyone has a great afternoon!

well, another productive day here.

i got the dash done except for the trailer brake controller, and ID tags for the carling switches.

and i got the lightbar and arrow stick all mounted, and the chapter decal on. all that needs to be done out back is lengthen the wire for the arrow stick 5 ft, and that is complete.

the power distribution panel is mounted under the hood, but they sent me three wrong circuit breakers, so i need to wait till tomorrow to get 2 more of the proper type, then i can finish wiring everything under the hood.

i never got to the train horns or compressor..
but then, tomorrow is another day.

Hey John, i found something i figured you would like this morning.

my old ivory police whistle. it still has the button hook and chain on it, and a handcuff key.
this was given to me when i joined the force back in 75.
it was originally my grandfathers.
it is at least 100 years old.

Nice job on the fish. Your daughter is a doll and I think she's pretty proud of that fish.

Dan, you are shy? Never figured that.

A riverboat...I dunno. Next time out we're going to lake McBride, not screwin around with the river. Its our first time going out and about and we're not sure exactly where to go yet, but we'll figure it out. Hey I'm a mountain kid, used to fishin for rainbows...I'm relying on Randy's expertise here.

Miss innocent. YEAH. We're not sure whats going on but Mattie has not been herself lately. She's been hyper, all wound up, almost anxious. She's been getting in trouble for not listening.

Have fun at the pool. I've been meaning to go out and do more stuff but I keep falling asleep on Randy's big oversized chair.

That's really cool, Tom. What a neat thing to have to remember your grandfather.

I'd recognize that dash anywhere. I stare at the very same dash all day.

I have my college graduation tassle hanging from mine. Says 2004...and that ages me.
